» Feature Writer Karen Lotter - Where would you go on your African Safari?

OK, this is fantasy time? Where would you like to go for your dream African Safari? Would you like to stay in Luxury lodges, tented camps, hotels - would you enjoy an action type Safari like an Elephant Safari in Botswana of a Camel Safari in Morocco or a walking safari or prefer to be driven in 4WD with guides doing all the work. What would you like to see?

I would do the tent thing but I'm weird that way. It sounds like a fun adventure.

Karen,
How very nice to have you taking over this topic happy
My "dream" African Safari would include a stay at Treetops in Kenya, Aberdares. For a "Yank," I am a bit of an Elizabethan royalist and every time I hear "Africa safari," my mind flips to Treetops where Princess Elizabeth (ERII) was notifyed of the death of her father in February, 1952. And as they say, the rest is history.
And, although you didn't ask ask, on my top ten list of things to do is a "garden safari" of gardens, parks and arboreta of South Africa. Friends keep bringing / sending information about them to me, but so far I haven't had the right opportunity.
Cheers,
Georgene

Good choice. I always wondered what it must have been like for her to hear news like that so far away from home. My gran was a great Royal so we grew up with lots of tales of the Royal family.

I grew up going to a variety of game parks across Southern Africa a few times a year - my family were deterimined that my brother and I would be able to identify all the birds and animals and trees. I didn't realise then what a privledge it was to see animals like that in their natural habitat.

South Africa has wonderful gardens. Our municipality - Durban's Parks and Gardens department is doing a stand at the Chelsea Flower Show at the end of the month.
